Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network Accepting Applications for Nonprofit Partner

Posted by Young Professionals on Thursday, August 6th, 2015 in Community Involvement, Latest News | Comments (0)

Nominate Nonprofit_Web Button_2015The Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network (YPN) is now accepting applications for an area nonprofit organization to partner with for the next year as part of the Network’s ongoing strategic plan.

Only network members may submit applications, but area nonprofits are encouraged to seek out a member to apply on their behalf. Click here for an application.  Applications are due August 27th and will be reviewed by a committee of YPN members.

The partnership – running from September 2015 to September 2016 – will give the selected nonprofit an opportunity to connect with young professionals from around Bismarck-Mandan, while providing network members with service opportunities throughout the year. All YPN fundraising efforts for that year will go towards the chosen nonprofit organization.

“Our members are looking to give back to our community, and by focusing our efforts on one main nonprofit, we are able to become more invested in the cause,” said Heather Welle, YPN Chairwoman.

The YPN nonprofit partnership started in 2014 and last year the selected nonprofit partner was Special Olympics.  This partnership allowed the local Special Olympics chapter to connect with young professionals from around Bismarck-Mandan and provided YPN members with service opportunities throughout the year.  The YPN directed all fundraising and most volunteer efforts from 2014-2015 towards the organization.

“Special Olympics has benefitted from a partnership with YP by gaining new volunteers, contacts and advocates to help communicate their needs in the community.  Since September of 2014, Special Olympics Bismarck has gained several volunteers and raised over $3,000 through the YPN Holiday Party and Chill-n-Bowl. This money will be put towards new jerseys for the athletes and they could not be more excited!  A member of the management team said “I have volunteered throughout my life, and this is one of THE most rewarding things I have done.  What I get out of it is much greater than what I give.” Thanks again to YPN for this awesome opportunity. The difference you have made for the athletes is unbelievable!” said Amanda Bakkedahl, Special Olympics Coach.

Please note: The top three applicants will be asked to present at the September 8th Leadership Team meeting at 5:30pm.  More information will be sent out prior to this date.
