YP’ers Get Open-Air Take on Entrepreneurship

Posted by Young Professionals on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 in Event News, Latest News | Comments (0)

E-Among Us_Luft_1More than 20 young professionals gathered at the Lüft on Wednesday, June 4 for an Entrepreneurs Among Us event.  Those who attended had a chance to hear Dr. Rick Becker speak about his experiences building the Lüft and several other successful businesses in the community.  His authentic disposition lead to several YP’ers asking questions and many stayed after to learn more about his experiences.

Lüft is a year-round rooftop beer garden with a setting unlike anywhere else in the state.  Located on the top floor of 510 E Main Street in Bismarck, the location boasts great views of the downtown and a fun laid back atmosphere.

Dr. Becker also spoke about how he started Humpback Sally’s, a small-plates tavern on the main floor of the same building. When giving the group entrepreneurial advice, Dr. Becker urged them not to hinge their success on one person – this was true for these two business ventures (Lüft and Humpback Sally’s), as well as the plastic surgery clinic he owns where he currently practices.

“If there is one person you can’t live without, start training someone to take their place or get rid of them,” said Becker. “Make sure your business can survive without them, because it’s quite possible it will need to!”
