Huff Hills Ski Trip Recap

Posted by Young Professionals on Sunday, February 2nd, 2014 in Event News, Latest News | Comments (0)

Huff Hills_LogoAround 10 YPN members got together on Saturday, February 1 for some skiing and snowboarding at Huff Hills Ski Area, located 18 miles south of Mandan. This event was organized by the YPN’s Social Team. Although the forecast called for a high of 6 degrees, it didn’t stop this group. Luckily, the actual temperature reached 12 degrees. The group carpooled from Mandan arriving at the resort around 10 am. A couple of the members brought their kids, including network president Joe Fink who brought his two daughters for their first skiing lesson.  Within a few hours, the two girls were hitting the big slopes. This goes to show that the YP Network is not just geared toward people with no children, we are family friendly!

Huff Hills Ski Trip_1Most of the members who attended hadn’t been skiing or snowboarding in several years. Karali Oradei hadn’t been since she was age seven, around 17 years ago! But she picked it back up in no time. Derek Hall, Social Team Lead and organizer, commented that he hadn’t been skiing since college. Unfortunately, that was 14 years ago! “Okay, on to the next subject,” said member Michael Quinn jokingly. After a couple hours of ski runs, the group gathered for a pot-luck lunch in the clubhouse. Each person brought a food item to share. There was plenty of good stuff to go around, including meatball sandwiches and little smokies. After lunch, the group hit the slopes for a few more hours, even attempting some of the black diamond runs with zero injuries. It was a fun day of activity and networking.
