Meet Our 2020 VP Nominee…

Posted by Tiffany Barth on Thursday, May 14th, 2020 in Latest News | Comments (0)

Amy Brown!

Where are you from? Williston, ND

Place of Employment: Missouri Valley Family YMCA

Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Fun Fact(s) about you: I have two dogs and two children.
I changed my college major and school three times but still somehow managed to graduate in four years – and now work in a totally different field.
I have three older brothers and am the only girl plus the youngest! I was spoiled.
I love drinking coffee, eating breakfast foods, going on walks, reading books and playing games with my daughter, dancing with my son and hanging out with my husband.

How long have you been in the YPN? 6 years

What is your involvement like within the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network (YPN)? My involvement started by attending team meetings and social events. Soon after joining, I became a business partner liaison with the Entrepreneur Team (E-Team). I joined the volleyball team and attempted the softball team (which lasted one season, I was terrible!). I served as the Entrepreneur Team co-lead from 2017-19.

Why do you want to be the next Vice President of the YPN?  I am excited about the strategic direction the YPN is headed towards, and I want to be a part of it. I want to give back to an organization that has given me so much, further expand my network and grow professionally.

How has being in the YP Network impacted you personally and professionally?

I have met so many wonderful and inspiring people through the YPN. Being involved in the YPN is a great way to make a difference in the community through volunteerism and service. I have added to my social and professional network, established meaningful connections and heard different perspectives on how to improve our community.  As a co-lead of the E-Team I was given the opportunity to attend quarterly lunches with our Wisdom Team, which included business leaders in the community. This offered a fantastic networking and growth opportunity. I always left the lunches inspired and challenged.

How can YPN progress to add more value to its members?

We should continue focusing on quality over quantity and continue our community outreach through the service team and non-profit partner of the year.
Our social interactions will need to evolve due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would be beneficial to increase our marketing within the community, emphasizing that “professionals” includes those in the trade industries, health care industry, educational institutions, etc.

What strengths as a leader will you bring as VP of the YPN?  I am passionate about improving the Bismarck/Mandan community. I am organized and detail-orientated, just ask the Leadership Team about my YPN binder! Many have described me as a caring and compassionate servant-leader. I am friendly and personable and would be an excellent representative of the YPN.
