Posted by Young Professionals on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 in Member Spotlight, Personal Interest | Comments (0)

Bruce WahlmanName: Bruce Wahlman

Place of Employment: Starion Financial

Job Title: Bank Teller

Month/Year You Started with Company: May 2016

Hometown: Pick City, ND

Role in the network: Partner Liaison for the Entrepreneur Team

What does the committee feel he/she contributes to network? (Statement by Team Co-leads)

Since Bruce has joined the YPN, he has been very active and stepped up on numerous occasions.  He participated in the volunteering efforts the Young Professional’s Day and signed up to be a Partner Liaison a short time later.  He agreed to the Partner Liaison role with very little knowledge on what it consisted of, which we believe is a testament to his work ethic and his willingness to learn and get involved.  He is always looking for other ways to help our team and the network as a whole.

Why do you feel it is important to be part of the network?

It’s a great way to become involved in your community, and start networking. YPN gives you chances to meet some very knowledgeable people that can help you grow whether you are a college student or already in the workforce, and in the end may open some amazing doors. You are also able to develop so many skills and gives you a look into so many fields and activities that there truly is something that will appeal to everyone.

Are you involved in other organizations in the community? If so, to what extent and why is this important to you?

You know I can’t say I am super involved in other organizations in the community at this time in my life, I would love to eventually become more active with organizations in the community in the future, but for right now being a full time student, and working two jobs, along with my new adventure in YPN keeps me pretty busy!

What professional advice do you have for other young professionals?

My advice would have to be that if you want something you just have to be willing to put in the work. Almost anything great in life isn’t just handed out to you, and if things are handed to you they usually aren’t as satisfying as something you have put the time and effort into. And even when you are working towards a goal, and times get really tough and stressful just take it all day by day and keep chipping away and things will work out for you. Just have to be willing to go through some hard trying times to get where you want to be.

How do you spend your free time?

I like to spend my time hanging out with friends and being outside! In the winter I like to take snowboarding trips with my friends, while in the summer I try to be up at the lake as much as possible, and I am really into sand volleyball.

What is your favorite quote?

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”- Tim Notke…..I heard it first from Tim Tebow!

Fun Fact(s)

I sponsor a child from Kenya, Africa named Musa Ojuang, and he is amazing!

I am double majoring in Business Administration and Human Resource Management.
