Job Title: Architectural Project Designer

I assist in the preparation of specifications, building codes and ADA reviews, bidding processes, coordination with architectural designers, engineers, consultants, contractors and clients.
Started with Company: August 2015
Hometown: Portland, Maine
Role in the YPN: Within the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network, I am currently engaged with the YPN Social Team, YPN Service Team and the YPN Professional Development Team.
Through the YPN Professional Development Team, I helped facilitate our annual Stepping Up event that was created to have career conversations with local high school students. This project allows Young Professionals to speak personally about how they chose their life-career paths, university, degree, work experience, or other life/career choices.
What does the committee feel she contributes to YPN? (Statement by Team Co-leads)
Joan has been a very active member of the Professional Development (PD) Team over the last year, including spearheading this year’s Stepping Up program. She really took that project and ran with it, getting more participation than ever before from both members and local school officials. She is always a valuable part of our meetings and we are lucky to have her as an active member of the PD Team.
Why do you feel it’s important to be part of the network?
Being part of the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network allowed me to engage with other young professionals and the different industries/companies in the Bismarck-Mandan area. I have acquired more skills that I will be able to use in my professional career, such as public speaking, service to others and the community, entrepreneurship, marketing while helping to encourage and form young minds to look forward to the different possibilities of the future.
