Role in the YP Network: Dedicated Ambassador Team Member
What does the committee feel he/she contributes to YPN? (Statement by Team Co-leads) “Katie contributes great ideas and dedication to the Ambassador Team. Her dedication and reliability has really helped our team. Even when she cannot be at an event, she still wants to know how she can help and if there is anything she can do.”
Why do you feel it is important to be part of the network? I heard about YP on the radio and immediately visited the website to find out more! I enjoy meeting new people and am intrigued by the community opportunities the YP network opens for its members. I feel that the more a person becomes involved in a community like Bismarck the more it feels like a home versus a place to work. This is important to me since I moved here with my family from out-of-state.
How do you spend your free time? We have become water junkies. I have never lived around a large amount of water, so since moving to Bismarck my family has taken up fishing, camping along the river, and we recently bought a canoe that we have yet to master! I also enjoy reading; mostly anything by Iris Johanson and most recently “Safe Haven” by Nicholas Sparks.
Are you involved in other organizations in the community? I work in labor and delivery at St Alexius, so my passion is new moms and their babies. I attend the Bismarck-Mandan La Leche meetings and am active in the Bismarck Breastfeeding Coalition. I also serve on the Breastfeeding Taskforce at St Alexius and the United Nursing Council.
