Role in the YP Network: Active member/Future Co-Lead of the Marketing Team
What does the committee feel she contributes to YP Network?
“I knew Mariah was destined for big things when she first tweeted the YPN (see below)! After meeting her a few times, I saw she had great potential and convinced her to get involved with the Marketing Team. I haven’t regretted it. Mariah has been a great resource, stepping up when asked for writing tasks and more. As a leader, she recently volunteered herself for the open co-lead position and has shown true grit. I’m excited to see her grow into the role.” -Michael Quinn
Why do you feel it is important to be part of the YP Network? The YPN provides career-minded people with the opportunity to impact their community through professional relationships, service, and community interactions. It’s also a great organization for any professional that is looking to enhance their skills or develop new skills that will improve their career. Additionally, the friendships created through this organization will continue to benefit your personal and professional life beyond your time in the network.
What other organizations are you involved with in the community? I am on the board of directors for Tracy’s Sanctuary House (TSH). TSH is an organization that is near and dear to my heart because it provides something my family needed during a time of crisis when we were far away from home. TSH opened 10 years ago in honor of my mother to aid families in their time of need and offer a temporary, private refuge when their loved one is experiencing a life-threatening crisis. Families are able to stay at TSH at no cost while their loved one is in the hospital. Since 2005, TSH has helped more than 2,000 families.
What professional advice do you have for other young professionals? Don’t be afraid to go beyond your comfort zone, whether that is moving to a new city, interviewing for any possible job opportunities, or even trying out a new career path.
How do you spend your free time? You can often find me watching the latest movies, reading, binge-watching Netflix or hanging out with friends and family. Occasionally, when the mood strikes I’ll read up on marketing and business strategies or try out a new DIY project. In times where I catch a case of wanderlust, you’ll find me pinning new destinations and planning my next trip.
What is your favorite quote? At the moment, “You have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyoncé.”
- I once caught a 15 lb. Alaskan King Salmon.
- I studied abroad in London.
- I tried haggis in Scotland and didn’t mind it!
- I attended college in Kansas City, MO.
- I am a superhero movie/TV show enthusiast.
