Being Vice President of the YPN

Posted by Young Professionals on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 in Latest News | Comments (0)

stacey. What you get out of something all depends on what you put into it. One of the greatest things about the YPN is that people can attend one event or all events. They
can attend team meetings, or they don’t have to. They can be a co-lead of a team or run for Vice President. This network provides several different levels of opportunity to fit a person’s lifestyle and desires.

From my personal experience, I started out as a member who attended a few events, then soon became the co-lead of the Entrepreneur Team, and then I developed a real passion for what this network stands for and wanted to run for Vice President. As a co-lead I witnessed the incredible foundation this network was built on. The structure, the flow, the financing – all of this was put together by a hard-working group of young professional volunteers. That last word is key – volunteers. As a co-lead, you volunteer extra time coordinating events, attending leadership team meetings and working with other teams. Before deciding to run for Vice President, I asked past leaders what this position would require from me and I was told it would be more work than being a co-lead, but it would be an incredibly rewarding experience, and it has been exactly that.

I have enjoyed the team environment surrounding this network and working with members, co-leads and the executive team. Looking back at this past year as Vice President, I wouldn’t change one thing and I am tremoundously grateful for the experience. I am looking forward to future service to this network by serving as President and Chairwoman.

Being Vice President takes commitment to the network and its members. If you have a passion about serving the network as the next Vice President, my best advice is to give it your all and go for it because you won’t regret it!
