Looking to volunteer more as part of your New Year’s Resolution? Look no further than Special Olympics North Dakota. The YP Network is looking for interested members to help coach and guide our Special Olympics athletes during the upcoming basketball season.
The YP Network will be hosting an informational session for those wanting to learn how to get involved with basketball. The meeting will be Monday, Dec. 29 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Broadway Grill and Tavern. Come find out how you can be a part of this growing sport, and organization.
The Special Olympics basketball season begins Jan. 7, with practice every 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Horizon Middle School. The season will consist of a weekly practice, a local and district tournament, and the state tournament in Minot March 13-14.
Those interested do not have to know how to play basketball, much less know what a basketball is! A coaching clinic is set for Monday, Jan. 5th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the World War Memorial Building (215 North 6th Street) here, local coaches will give us a better look at best practices for coaching, and will begin with the basic fundamentals of basketball.
