On Saturday, April 9, a team of 12 YPN members participated in the 20th Annual Sanford Health Foundation Great American Bike Race (GABR) at Century High School.
The GABR is a stationary bike race and fundraiser that involved 106 teams of 12 riders biking for 20 minutes each. All proceeds of GABR in Bismarck support local children and their families with resources that go above and beyond insurance coverage, such as medical devices and the purchase of wheelchairs, communication devices and adaptive tricycles for children and young adults. Over the past 19 years, more than $2.5 million has been raised for children through GABR!
In February the YPN team was formed and chose the name “Orange Crush” and began individual fundraising efforts with a team goal to raise $1,200. The team raised a total of $2,635, exceeding its goal by $1,435! Special recognition to Matthew Schaible for raising $1,125 of this total. Outstanding effort Matt! Other team members were: Jarrod Anderson, April Balsley, Carla Bodensteiner, Kaitlin Bohlander, Shae Helling, Jamie Jackson, Annalise O’Toole, Steven Richard, Cody Schoonover, Stacey Thomas, and Mallory Westby. Each member of the team was treated to a cold Orange Crush following his or her heat.
